Detention/Residential Center

On October 27, 1994, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the V.R.J.J. Detention/Residential Center. On June 29, 1995, then Governor, George W. Bush, dedicated the facility and on September 1, 1995, the doors opened. Housing Victoria County juveniles and juveniles from contracting surrounding counties to provide care and programmatic rehabilitation services. The 72-bed facility has post-adjudication program for male and females as well as an intensive program for pregnant females.

  • Moderate, specialized care for all residents
  • Post-adjudicated pregnant females
  • Ages 10-17

Victoria Regional Juvenile Justice Center provides a wide range of services aimed at heightening a juvenile's understanding of social responsibilities, empathy and self discipline.

Service Provided:
  • Counseling-individual and family
  • Pregnant offenders-OB/GYN prenatal, post partum care, physical activities, parenting classes and the Baby, Think It Over Program
  • Group services-anger management, Truthought, specialized group and substance / drug education
  • Additional services-contract psychiatric, the Hope Center, volunteer and religious services, educational and simulator welding class

The Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD) investigates complaints against county Juvenile Boards relating to the provision of juvenile services in every Texas County. TJJD, however, requires that the Juvenile Board be given the opportunity to resolve all complaints first at the local county level.

If you are unable to resolve your concern or complaint with the Chief, you may ask to be placed on the Juvenile Board agenda to present your complaint in person at the next regularly scheduled Juvenile Board meeting, by contacting:

TJJD's investigation is limited to determining whether the Juvenile Board is in compliance with TJJD’s administrative standards. TJJD’s investigation will not address the appropriateness of a disposition by the Juvenile Court. TJJD does not have the authority to override an order issued by a Juvenile Court.
